Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Java Architect to design and lead the development of robust, distributed software systems. This role involves modernizing legacy J2EE applications, architecting microservices, and ensuring the delivery of scalable and compliant solutions in regulated sectors such as Unemployment Insurance programs. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, leadership skills, and a track record of successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, write, test, debug, and document software applications in Java, J2EE, and Spring.
• Lead modernization efforts, transitioning J2EE applications to a Spring Framework Microservices architecture using Domain-Driven Design principles.
• Architect distributed application systems, leveraging the Spring Framework, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containerization technologies.
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical consistency.
• Provide architectural leadership for workflows involving tax calculations and direct-to-user payments in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with technical teams and business leadership to define system requirements and project priorities.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation for all projects.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in cloud architecture and enterprise Java development.

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience designing, writing, testing, debugging, and documenting software applications in Java, J2EE, and Spring.
• 3+ years of experience modernizing J2EE applications to a Spring Framework Microservices architecture using Domain-Driven Design principles.
• 3+ years of experience architecting and documenting distributed application systems using the Spring Framework, microservices, RESTful APIs, and containerization.
• 5 years of experience as an architect in Unemployment Insurance programs or other regulated and audited government sectors involving workflows for tax calculations and direct-to-user payments.
• 2+ years of experience leading and organizing a portfolio of mixed, concurrent projects, including communication with technical and business leadership.
• Java and Enterprise Cloud Architecture certifications.
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in a relevant field (please specify college name and degree earned).
